Sámi and Indigenous research survey

Aim

The Centre for Sámi Studies at The University of Tromsø has made a survey of Sámi and indigenous research. This database will be a contribution to gain a comprehensive view of the situation of Sámi and indigenous research, and be a tool for information about Sámi research. The database may also be helpful for comparison of chosen development features within this research field.

When you search

The database is thematical, and you may therefore search for various themes. Researchers who have registered their research projects in the database have used different languages (Sámi, Norwegian and English). When searching, the search word should be tried in different languages (projects about reindeer research: search words may be reindeer, reindeer husbandry, rein, reindrift, boazu and so on).

If you use the advanced search, the result can be sorted by for example discipline and country (also cross-disciplinary and cross-border projects).

You may search the database here.

If the researcher has registered projects in Frida (the universities' system for research documentation) there will be made a link from the Sámi research database to Frida.

When you register project

You may use Sámi, Norwegian or English when you register data. If you wish to disseminate your registrations to an international public, we will recommend you to use English.
